Improving quality of life one drone at a time Drones as multi-purpose vehicles can make an important contribution to a number of the European Commission’s strategies that ensure food security, address climate and environmental challenges and reverse biodiversity loss including, Farm to fork, Shaping Europe’s Digital Future, EU biodiversity strategy and European Green Deal. The multi-purpose application of drones brings socio-economic, environmental and regulatory challenges that limit their current use across Europe. These include costly investment, knowledge gaps, data protection and technology misuse, environmental conditions significantly limit the use of drones, regulatory restrictions and safety regulations.
The ICAERUS vision is to explore opportunities and provide a more complete and interconnected account of the potential and impact of drones as multi-purpose vehicles in EU agriculture, forestry and rural areas. The aim of ICAERUS is to showcase and support, through application, the effective, efficient and safe deployment of drones as well as, identify the risks and added values associated with their use-cases and open calls.

Innovations and Capacity building in Agricultural Environmental and Rural UAV Services
reframe.food as leader of WP5 will develop and implement a multi-dimensional Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication (DEC) plan towards maximising the impact of project results and enlarging ICAERUS ecosystem. Also, reframe.food will lead the process of planning, executing and monitoring 2 PUSH Open Calls for Innovation Development and 2 PULL Open Calls for Farming, Forestry and Rural Challenges. Finally, reframe.food is responsible to create innovative business and governance models tailor-made to the reality of farming and rural communities, aiming to incentivise the prospering use of drones for agriculture, forestry and rural community development.
