How can Europe’s food systems prepare for climate pressure, biodiversity loss and other disruptions? ECO-READY explored this question by connecting research and data with work in 10 regional Living Labs.
Through a €4 million cascade-funding programme, the project established Living Labs across four bioclimatic regions. Researchers worked with farmers, businesses, policymakers and other local stakeholders to examine regional food-system challenges, develop scenarios and consider contingency plans and resilience strategies.
ECO-READY also developed its Observatory, a digital platform designed to bring together data, models and knowledge related to food security, climate change and biodiversity. The project’s work included AI-based modelling and decision-support tools, alongside policy conclusions and resources to help Living Labs plan for potential disruptions.
These results were among the topics discussed at the ECO-READY Final General Assembly, held at the Center for Dissemination of Research Results (KE.D.E.A.) at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from 12 to 14 October 2026. Across three days, partners reviewed the project’s work packages and Living Lab results, explored the Observatory and its applications, and discussed how to sustain and build on the project’s outputs. The final day focused on post-project sustainability and possible synergies with FutureFoods and other initiatives.
reframe.food contributed to WP3, Cascade funding and Living Labs network, including the coordination and monitoring of Living Lab sub-projects.
The meeting gave partners a chance to take stock of what they had built together and consider how the Observatory, regional knowledge and collaborations can continue to support more resilient food systems.
