SOIL Practices Assessment and Transition for Health
SoilPATH addresses the challenge of improving soil health in European arable farming by helping farmers understand which farming practices work best, where, and in which combinations. By bringing together scientific evidence, long-term field data and practical farming knowledge, SoilPATH supports more informed decisions that enhance soil health while maintaining productive, sustainable and resilient farming systems.
Through 12 national stakeholder networks, SoilPATH brings together farmers, advisors, researchers and policymakers to co-create and test practical solutions across different European farming contexts. Evidence from 24 long-term field trials is used to assess how farming practices and their combinations affect soil health, farm performance and wider environmental and socio-economic outcomes.
SoilPATH also develops a harmonised framework for assessing soil health, maps opportunities for improvement, and translates project findings into practical recommendations. Central to its approach is SoilPATHways, an accessible online hub providing decision-support tools, guidance and training for farmers, advisors and policymakers. By turning complex soil data into practical and locally relevant knowledge, SoilPATH supports better farming decisions and more effective soil-health policies across Europe.

As the leader of Work Package 7, reframe.food leads SoilPATH’s efforts to maximise the visibility, uptake and long-term impact of the project’s results. RFF develops and implements the project’s Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication (DEC) plan, coordinating communication channels and materials, stakeholder-focused outreach, dissemination activities and impact monitoring.
RFF also leads the project’s sustainability and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) management, supporting the identification, protection and exploitation of key project results and developing pathways for their continued use beyond SoilPATH’s lifetime.
In parallel, RFF contributes to the SoilPATHways knowledge hub and supports synergies with Mission Soil, Horizon Europe and other relevant initiatives, helping translate SoilPATH’s knowledge and solutions into accessible resources for farmers, advisors, policymakers, researchers and other stakeholders.
