At the Agrifood Forum 2024 in Lithuania, Stavros Tsirouras, partner at reframe.food, had the opportunity to showcase the groundbreaking EU-funded project Path4Med and highlight the critical role of reframe.food in leading the Open Call for building the capacity of public authorities. This event, centered around the theme “FIELD OF THE FUTURE: Rethinking AgriFood for Resilience and Sustainability”, provided the perfect platform to present innovative solutions for a sustainable, pollution-free future in agriculture.

Path4Med is a multi-disciplinary project focused on achieving zero water and soil pollution within the agro-hydro systems of the Mediterranean basin and beyond. By addressing the issues of water scarcity and soil degradation, Path4Med aims to restore ecosystems and improve sustainability in agriculture. The project’s goal is to develop and implement solutions that reduce pollution, improve water quality, and promote sustainable practices across Mediterranean agriculture.

A key element of the Path4Med project is the Open Call, which plays a vital role in scaling up the innovative solutions developed by the project. The Open Call aims to:

  • Replicate the solutions created by Path4Med and demonstrate their functionality for widespread adoption across different regions and scales.
  • Enhance the capacity of public authorities to implement innovative and sustainable solutions.
  • Reduce the use of fertilizers and remediate pollution caused by excess nutrients in agriculture.

Stavros Tsirouras took the stage to emphasize the significant role that reframe.food plays in leading this Open Call. He highlighted how this initiative aligns with reframe.food’s broader mission to promote sustainable agri-food practices and drive cross-sector collaboration for lasting change. The Agrifood Forum 2024, organized by AgriFood Lithuania, provided an invaluable space for stakeholders from across the agri-food sector to come together, share insights, and inspire action. The forum’s theme, “Rethinking AgriFood for Resilience and Sustainability,” resonated deeply with the objectives of the Path4Med project, which aims to transform agricultural practices for greater environmental resilience. The forum brought together thought leaders, innovators, and policymakers to discuss how the agri-food sector can adapt to future challenges and drive positive environmental and economic outcomes. It was a chance to connect with like-minded professionals and inspire action toward a sustainable future for agriculture. As reframe.food continues to lead efforts like Path4Med, our commitment to sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship remains at the forefront. By collaborating with public authorities, innovators, and stakeholders across regions, we aim to build a future where sustainable practices are the norm, not the exception.

We invite you to learn more about Path4Med and the Open Call initiatives. Together, we can work toward zero pollution, healthier ecosystems, and a more resilient agri-food sector.
