On 6–7 November 2025, the OFELIA Horizon Europe project officially launched with a two-day Kick-off Meeting held in Xanthi, Greece.

The meeting brought together consortium partners from across Europe to mark the start of a three-year interregional initiative focused on strengthening value chains for Functional Foods and Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (FFMAPs) through open innovation and digital transformation.

OFELIA [Boosting interregional value chains on functiOnal Foods and mEdicinaL and aromatIc plAnts via digital transformation] brings together an interregional consortium working to strengthen the resilience, competitiveness, and sustainability of Functional Foods and Medicinal & Aromatic Plants value chains, with a strong focus on Less Developed Regions and cross-regional cooperation.

Across the two-day meeting, consortium partners presented the project’s overall vision and strategic objectives, reviewed the planned activities and implementation roadmap, and aligned on collaboration mechanisms to support innovation and interregional value-chain development. Discussions also focused on the role of digital transformation in enabling more sustainable production processes, improving processing and traceability, and supporting market uptake in functional foods and medicinal and aromatic plants.
