A new Horizon Europe project, SoilPATH – SOIL Practices Assessment and Transition for Health, has officially begun its five-year journey to support healthier, more resilient and productive arable soils across Europe.
The SoilPATH consortium gathered in Ghent, Belgium, on 22–23 September 2026 for its Kick-off Meeting, hosted by the project Coordinator Ghent University, bringing partners together to align priorities and set the direction for the work ahead.
SoilPATH brings together 17 partners from 11 European countries, working through 12 Multi-Actor Working Groups and drawing on 24 existing long-term field trials across Europe.
At the heart of the project is a key question: how do different farming practices, individually and in combination, affect soil health and farm performance?
By combining scientific evidence, long-term field data, digital technologies and stakeholder knowledge, SoilPATH will develop a harmonised approach for assessing these effects and translating them into practical tools and recommendations for farmers, advisors and policymakers.
reframe.food’s role
reframe.food leads Work Package 7 on Dissemination, Communication and Exploitation. Our role is to help SoilPATH’s knowledge and results reach the people who can use them through strategic communication, dissemination, practice-oriented content and activities supporting the long-term visibility and uptake of project results.
With the project now underway, SoilPATH begins its work towards turning soil science into practical pathways for better farming practices and healthier soils across Europe.
